The UnB Interdisciplinary Negotiation Team is the current champion of the most traditional academic negotiation competition in Brazil, Meeting Negotiation. The team is composed of students from the University of Brasília and is dedicated to study and train its members in the the Harvard Negotiation Project's techniques (Collaborative Negotiation) to represent the University of Brasília in academic competitions.
Conceived in 2019, the project was effectively operationalized in the late 2020 bringing together students from 3 knowledge areas (Business Administration, Law and International Relations) interested in the best negotiation practices to compete in the Brazilian qualifying stage of the International Negotiation Competition (INC).
The Meeting de Negociação is the gateway for Brazilian students to compete in the International Negotiation Competition (INC), the oldest and most renowned international legal negotiation competition for students and professionals from all over the world.
The competition takes place annually, during the first semester, in brazillian regional stages and a national final stage, in which the best team represents Brazil at the INC, which this year will be held in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, from June 28th to July 3rd.
In its first participation in the Meeting de Negociação, in 2021, the University of Brasilia's negotiation team qualified for the national stage and came in 7th place overall. In addition to the experience and networking gained in the course of the competition, the team was awarded the individual prizes for Best Regional Negotiator and Best Regional Negotiation Result, as well as the Best National Negotiation Strategy award.
In 2022, the University of Brasilia team shared the podium with other major Brazilian universities such as USP and UFMG qualifying in third place for the National Final. In the 2022 National round that took place from May 19 to 22, the University of Brasília team was awarded the Best National Negotiation Strategy, Best Conduction of the Negotiation Process, Best National Negotiation Result and reached the 1st place overall nationally, qualifying for the International Negotiation Competition.
